Loading Xml data via Content Manager

I'm porting my game from WP7 to android and so far everything has been going smoothly, except I have a significant amount of my content data (i.e. levels, characters, ect) stored in xml format. In WP7, that data is loaded via the the Content Manager. But in Mono for Android I cannot find an equivalent. I don't really want to have to add platform specific code at every point I load some of this data. Is there a way to load it via the Content Manager? I should mention that the xml files are compiled to xnb.
