I've had a 17" Macbook pro for 3 years and it's time to upgrade.

Apple has a 2.4 and a 2.7 Ghz Macbook Pro that have a significant price differences. Is the extra CPU speed going to help that much given both options run SSD and have lots of ram? There is a 22% price difference.

I use the computer for MonoTouch nearly exclusively.

i doubt, that about 10% in raw cpu speed really gives that much of an advantage in real life. rather invest in even more RAM or larger SSD.

Xamarin is not that cpu demanding: the editor is quite snappy and the compile time is not that huge, as apps are usually rather small

I have the 2.3ghz MBP retina, and it is a pretty fast and nice device. You will like your new notebook :)
