NUI Binding

KyleSmythKyleSmyth USMember

Hey all,

We're looking at making a Xamarin binding for https://github.com/tombenner/nui which is an iOS UI Framework that allows you to style a view with CSS.

I was wondering if anyone has done this before, or tried to with or without success?

This is a pretty complex library, compared to the sample binding's that Xamarin has provided. I'm having a few issues to work out and just want to know if my efforts are futile or if this library is bindable.

@KyleSmyth have you looked at Pixate Freestyle? Its also a CSS styling library but it's also available on android. There is already a component available too!

@Redth Hey, thanks for your comment.

I have looked at it and it looks like it is similar to NUI. However, the designers on this project are quite invested in NUI. Perhaps we'll switch to Pixate but for now I'm going to try and get NUI going.

@KyleSmyth‌ I had started a binding of it (you can see my definition here: https://gist.github.com/Redth/b72b1e2434a904a041c1 ) however I couldn't seem to get the engine to initialize properly, and I haven't had a chance to go back to it to dig deeper. It didn't seem to throw any errors, it just wouldn't actually do any styling.

Perhaps you will have more luck before I can circle around to it...
