Connecting a Database without Web Services

Hello! I am learning how to build apps by creating a small view to see what tickets I have in my queue for work. I am having trouble figuring out where I add the database connection string and sign in info. I understand Web Services is the preferred option to do this, but the reason why I don't want to is we bought the DB from another company and the Web Service documentation is all over the place on how to operate. Any help or links would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you so much in advance.

    I can't get you here.
    Your backend service is used to manipulate the database and return the desired data to your client side.
    I really don't suggest connecting your remote database directly from the client side by secure consideration. But if you do want to do this, this thread may be helpful:

    I suggest using a backend service to manipulate the database.

    If you want to know how to develop rest apis, ASP.NET could be an option.
