VS2017 Entreprise - Intellisense not working.

PierreParmPierreParm FRMember ✭✭

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to use the VS IDE correctly but I'm facing multiple issues.
One of them is that I can't have access to Intellisense on any Xaml file.

Every control is underlined in blue (I'm using the dark theme) and I get the message "The type 'ContentPage' was not found. Verify that you are not missing an assembly reference and that all referenced assemblies have been built.".

The solutions proposed to me when hitting ctrl + ; are adding xmlns which dont change anything.

Not sure if code is relevant for this issue.

If anyone has met the issue (I know there is) and solved the problem, I'd love to know how to get a proper IDE back.

Thank you !

In Visual Studio 2015 Professional and Xamarin.Forms v2.3.5.256-pre6, I experience this exact same bug regarding every Xamarin.Forms XAML file in my project (i.e., the XAML with xmlns="http://xamarin.com/schemas/2014/forms" and xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2009/xaml"). (Everything works as expected for the Microsoft XAML files in the same solution/project, i.e., when xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" and xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml".)

So this is not necessarily limited to Visual Studio 2017 or to Enterprise edition, since it affects Visual Studio 2015 and Professional edition as well.

Taking a hint from the textual-message hover-text regarding type not found verify assembly reference, I suspect that something is stale or mismatching regarding the assemblies in the References folder, but so far none of my manipulations/refreshes of the referenced assemblies have rectified Intellisense's lack of recognition of the schema for Xamarin's XAML.

It works for me now, the only issue I have is that everytime I make a mistake in my compiled Xaml I'll loose Intellisense until I restart VS2017.
    Kind of a weird bug.
