UIView does not contain a definition for TouchUpInside

simplest thing that could not possibly work:

I'm working through the 'Hello.iOS' example here: https://developer.xamarin.com/guides/ios/getting_started/hello,_iOS/.

When I try to add the boilerplate text for the handler to the 'translateButton', I get this error and another one:

'UIView' does not contain a definition for 'TouchUpInside', blah-de-blah. Same for lowercase.

Is this an "apple dev tools are a 'meandering neanderthal' target" and I should expect this kind of stuff on every line I write?

(I'm not a curmudgeon)

Sorry to hear you're having troubles running one of our example apps.

UIView does not contain a definition for 'TouchUpInside' means that you are trying to add a click handler to a UIView which - indeed - does not support this. You'd need a UIButton (which is derived from UIView). As far as I can see, the walkthrough makes you drag a UIButton from the toolbox and name it "TranslateButton". Can you maybe be a bit more specific about what exactly is not working?

I have also tried to run the app on iOS10 with latest dev tools and it builds and deploys just fine. What is the other error you are seeing?
