Mac Agent Advice Won't Connect

PatTormeyPatTormey USMember

Mac Agent 'sees' MacBook.. Can't connect. Created a new admin user on Mac as admin with user name 'visualstudio' log into mac as 'visualstudio' user PuTTY into Mac as 'visualstudio' user Ok.. Mac Agent them cycles through "Magic 8 Ball" answers from Can't connect to 'bad credentials.

Looks like this happens to lots of people lots of times. Remembering that many of us are relatively new to Macs and Xamarin MAYBE somebody should provide comprehensive docs or an automated validator or maybe error messages that mean something.

Is it too early to be using this product?
Trial and error is tough way to figure this out..

hmm i cant give you comprehensive doc on this but....

have you enabled "remote login" on the user? on the mac.
its under "sharing'->check off remote login and make sure its on all users or that the user you want to use is on the list.
also is it allowed on the network to communicate on port 22 with SSH?
if you get it to connect, remember that the first time you build the mac will ask for access to the keychain.

then if this do not work, the connection log for the mac agent is in the "Output" window in visual studio under the "Show output from Xamarin" in the drop-down.

this should give you an idea on whats going wrong.

    EDIT: also this
