I have looked on meetup.com. Is there a Xamarin meetup in the San Francisco area or anywhere in the Silicon Valley?
There is, but it seems dormant. The .NET group is pretty active, and they occasionally present Xamarin content.

There's actually a Xamarin presentation in a couple weeks. I saw the speaker at a recent Microsoft meet up. Really enthusiastic, knowledgeable guy.
