close/hide toolbar

Is there a way to get rid of the top toolbar?

I never use the toolbar and it just steals considerable chunk from my editor vertical space.

    Nope, the toolbar can't be hidden.

    any good reason why or hard to implement? in older versions it was possible.

    It's a design decision. We are aware that not everybody will like the decisions we make, but we do our best to please most of our user base. Could we add an option to make the toolbar optional? maybe, but that means placing the configuration selector, status area and search box somewhere else, or implement them in a different way. If we had big demand for this we would consider redesigning it, but that's not the case right now.

    Thanks @AhmedAlejo , this is working for me:

    public partial class MainPage : MasterDetailPage
        {
            public MainPage()
            {
                InitializeComponent();

                NavigationPage.SetHasNavigationBar(this, false); // Hide nav bar
            }
        }

    @atn @AhmedAlejo - Just for the sake of clarity, the original question was about hiding the toolbar in the Xamarin Studio IDE, not a toolbar in a Xamarin.Forms application.
