Access already created and deployed android database

Hello,

I created a native android application which I deployed on the play store.

Currently, I'm rewriting this application to support more platform (ios, windows phone).
I'm asking my self if I will be able to use the existing db on the android platform because if I can't my users will lost data.
If the application is generated with the same keystore file and has the same package name, I think it could be possible but I didn't tried yet.

Did you already do that ?

Thanks in advance

@FlorianSpierckel - if you are talking about a SQLite DB then if you detect whether one is created first, before trying to create a new one then it should read the existing one, if its the same app. App updates won't delete or remove existing user files, unless your app tells it to.

You could test this out by deploying your existing app to the alpha channel, then installing on your phone and then updating to your new version just to test. That would be recommended to make sure it works as expected.
