  • I have student indie developer license, where I need business license to code with Visual studio. How can I particulate in this contest?

  • JamesMontemagnoJamesMontemagno USForum Administrator, Xamarin Team, Developer Group Leader Xamurai

You are still able to create plugins with Indie from Xamarin Studio as they are just the Dlls that you need to upload. I do not have any XS templates available at this time though. If you get started in Xamarin Studio and start on the project just send me a DM and I should be able to help you out more if you want to participate.

Entered. Thanks for running this James. First time I have used GitHub and Nuget. Forced me to learn it.

Make sure you tweet out links to your plugins as well with #PluginForXamarin

    These are awesome!!!

  • RyanDavisRyanDavis AUInsider, University ✭✭

I tweeted the link to my plugin, but it doesn't show up when you check the #PluginForXamarin tag. Reading the Twitter faq, it's most likely because my account is not very active. I gotta get tweeting!

Aaaand there was a sly "!" at the end of the url I shortened so the link in that tweet was broken - fixed tweet is here and I'll remove the old one shortly

Hi James, question: how can i create a configurable plugin like MvvmCross?

  • JamesMontemagnoJamesMontemagno USForum Administrator, Xamarin Team, Developer Group Leader Xamurai

You could put a public static Init() method taking in parameters or make settings with getters and setters. What are you looking to make configurable, can you be more specific?

If you need to access things like Android's context see my post here: https://github.com/jamesmontemagno/Xamarin.Plugins/tree/master/AccessContextAndViewController

Hey James - I've been looking for a way to ask you a couple of questions regarding the usage of NuGets that are created by your Plugin for Xamarin Visual Studio extension. That and the Plugin for Xamarin NuSpec extension have been extremely helpful, BTW. Thanks.

    Here are my questions...

    1. Using your CrossXXX.Current mechanism, what would be the best way to handle Implementation values that require constructor parameters?

    2. It appears the CrossXXX.Current mechanism, in conjunction with the Plugin for Xamarin NuSpec file, does not allow the NuGet to be consumed by a PCL. Is this true? If so, why is that and what would I need to do to make the NuGet consumable by PCLs as well as platform-specific projects? If it is NOT true, what am I doing wrong?

    Thanks
