Background fetch not supported yet when using Xcode 7.

I just tried to simulate a background fetch in the iOS Simulator, but got the message Background fetch not supported yet when using Xcode 7. Is there a workaround besides downloading Xcode 6?

I am running Xamarin Studio 5.9.7 / Xamarin.iOS 9.0.1.18 with Xcode 7.0

Same, been trying to use it without success... please fix it! Need to release and can't release without proper testing!

@BorisSpinner I wouldn't say day 0 as this feature came out in ios7. The new xCode 7 with xamarin has issues that they have been patching vigorously. I know because I have several posts and they have put fixes within 5 days on alpha.

I would switch your channel to beta and if not try alpha. I routinely do this for exact issues like this, so I can code for it and stable is released I just switch back.

I've filed a bug for this: https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=34552, you can CC yourself to be notified when it's fixed.

  • Workaround: launch it from xCode:

    1. Run debug session in XS
    2. Open any project in xCode (I used 7.1.1)
    3. Attach debugger to running process (Menu->Debug->Attach To Process). It is easy to find it by application name.
    4. Wait for xCode debug connection is ready
    5. Now it is possible select Menu->Debug->Simulate Background Fetch
