Can I add a search control to Android's ActionBar using Forms?

ChrisMcBrideChrisMcBride USMember ✭✭

I'd like to add a search control to Android's Actionbar. But I don't see any way to access the native actionbar. I tired to override the tabbedrender as well as the navigationrenderer. But I can only get access to the toolbaritems.
Is this even possible using Xamarin.Forms?

You wouldn't mind giving me some insight on how you managed to access the toolbaritems from the android project?
    Thanks in advance!

In the OnElementChanged of TabbedRenderer you'll get an ElementChangedEventArgs. This guy has a "NewElement" that contains "toolbaritems" which is a list of the toolbaritems.
There may be a better way to get this element.
