Cheaper Option than Xamarin University for Certification

codenutzcodenutz GBMember

Is there any way to pursue xamarin certification without subscribing to xamarin university? Its something I'd be really interested in working towards, but the $2k for xamarin university is ridiculously beyond my means!

As I understand it, currently XU is the only way to qualify for the Exam

I can't imagine Xamarin ever offering certification without joining XamU - it's part of the sweetener for the deal. Other companies will offer certification I am sure, but I can't image it will be as well received when job hunting as Xamarin's own.
Though TBH, having been certified for a few months I haven't seen any difference in job prospects - no one is knocking down my door now that I'm in the LInkedIn group or have it on my profile.

It is expensive in terms of paying cash up front, but is exception value for what you actually get. I'm 6 months in to mine and have had probably 60 hours of instructor lead courses in small classes where all my questions to the instructor have been answered either there and then or off line later. Their office hours is a phenomenal resource enabling expert help for those tricky problems.

If it is too expensive, have you tried asking for a discount?

I hope someday if a person has a MSDN subscription, maybe they'll provide some vouchers for discounts
