Is it possible to create a portable library and write the code for it in F#? I can only find a template for a c# portable library in Xamarin Studio.
Is it possible to tweak this by modifying the project file some how for now?
Since F# is great for data processing and logic it will be very nice to see PCL supporting it.
Hi, yes of course you can.
The new FSharp PCLs are compatible with Xamarin out of the box.
Edit: And it's very cool to use with MVVM by the way ;-)
Using Xamarin Studio v4.3.4 & the F# Language Bindings v3.2.30 I still see no such options to add a F# PCL-library to a solution. Would you care to elaborate your answer and give some hints?
sorry I obviously forgot to mention that I am still a student.
As the student discount of Xamarin automatically includes the VS extension the F# PCLs work without modifications.
I don't know if there is any possibility to hack this into XS.
Nevertheless I would be very interested in a solution for XS as I haven't thought of F# PCLs being a problem outside of VS.
As trivial evidence.... ;-)
(Well unfortunately you need to rebuild the Fsharp PCLs sometimes as he keeps losing the references)
@NeoDarque , @nsa
According to Dave Thomas (7Sharp9) XS already supports FSharp PCLs.
You just need to download the project templates manually:
If you try this on Mac OS please share the results with us.
I tried to load the fsproj file which I downloaded from github in XS on OS X. It did not work.
