iOS 6 and Maps

Since the introduction of the new maps in iOS 6 i've had a lot of complaints about the quality of my navigation app.

Does anyone know if a solution like this https://github.com/mladjan/GoogleMapsOverlayiOS - using Google Maps as overlay for the MapKit would work? Would it pass the AppStore review?

    Hi Alexander,

I don't see any technical reason this wouldn't work. However, Google maps has its own licensing agreement that may restrict pulling tiles from them. You can view Google's licensing terms here:

You could also do the same thing with OpenStreetMap, but I'm not sure if that would buy you anything in terms of quality vs. using MapKit's tiling directly, since I believe that's what Apple uses.

Also, you may want to check out Bing's map api. They have an iOS control as well:

    Cheers,
