Xamarin.iOS.Windows.After.targets(63,5): warning VSX1000: No Address and User has been specified...

AlexBrownAlexBrown Alex BrownUS ✭✭

We have 2 separate developer workstations experiencing this problem with Visual Studio 2017 and Xamarin.iOS 10.10.

We are able to connect fine, but builds fail with the message:
Xamarin.iOS.Windows.After.targets(63,5): warning VSX1000: No Address and User has been specified in order to establish a connection to a Mac Server

The problem started yesterday on 10.8, and we upgraded VS but the problem did not go away.

We applied the FIX below of hard-coding credentials in the targets file and it resolved the problem, but has an unfortunate side-effect of being a security problem for us, as well as generally disconcerting. Are other people having this problem? Is there a patch or fix for this that does not involve hard-coding credentials?

@AlexBrown Have you checked the suggested fixes described here?

    https://developer.xamarin.com/guides/ios/getting_started/installation/windows/connecting-to-mac/troubleshooting/#Unable_to_connect_to_Address192.168.1.222_with_Usermacuser

If so please confirm your full version info and logs on both the Windows and Mac systems:

    Visual Studio in Windows
Help -> About Microsoft Visual Studio -> Copy Info [button]

    Xamarin/Visual Studio in OS X
Xamarin/Visual Studio > About Xamarin/Visual Studio -> Show Details -> Copy Information [button]

    Visual Studio in Windows:
Help -> Xamarin -> Zip Logs

    Xamarin for Mac logs:
You can select the "Go -> Go to Folder" menu item in Finder, and then copy and paste the path into the dialog.

@AlanClark Thanks for responding quickly. Yes, I've been through that list of fixes several times, most do not apply to my situation, others I have tried in various ways.

Versions output below and logs attached.

Also, I should mention that yesterday late in the day I decided to try again and it started to work! Then this morning when I came in - it was not working again and I had to re-hardcode the credentials/server/port in the targets file.

My MAC is a MacBook Pro, and I take it home each night. I am wondering if this is related to some networking / connectivity related issue. What kind of connectivity / networking issue could have this kind of issue - where it allows it to connect to the MAC, but then MSBuild can't seem to retrieve credentials, but hard-coding ports and creds solves the problem.

Let me know if you have any guidance.

@AlexBrown Thanks for that. Could you please also include the mac version info too?

Visual / Xamarin Studio in OS X
Visual / Xamarin Studio -> About Visual / Xamarin Studio -> Show Details -> Copy Information [button]

In the mean time I'll check the logs and see what I can find.

    Thanks,
    Al

@AlexBrown What steps are you taking to build your project here? Are you building from command line?

  • AlexBrownAlexBrown Alex Brown US ✭✭

No, just clicking on the Green run > in toolbar next to Debug, iPhone Simulator, iPhone 7.

  • AlexBrownAlexBrown Alex Brown US ✭✭

Any Ideas? Still having to hard-code credentials.
