These latest Beta versions are now also available in Visual Studio 2017 Preview as part of the May 3 update (26430.01 – Preview). The Xamarin.VisualStudio extension 4.5.0.439 in this Visual Studio 2017 Preview is one small edit behind the version in VS 2015.

Using the latest Visual Studio for Mac Preview with this release is encouraged, but you can also continue to use Xamarin Studio if you prefer.

    @BrendanZagaeski

    Just wondering... With so many iOS features evident in this 15.2 preview... (Thanks for all of them!)

    Its been a year since Xamarin demonstrated "iOS USB Remoting" so people on Windows could plug their iPads into the Windows10 VIsual Studio work stations, and have the Mac build host use that tablet as the target.

    That demo was met with a standing ovation: I was there.

    Yet we hear nothing about this amazing capability that would do so much, for so many.

    Can you give us a hint about where it is on the Xamarin roadmap?

    iOS USB Remoting

    Thanks for the link. I put message up on the Evolution sub-forum. Though that was promptly closed and rejected since it isn't for 'Forms'. I don't know if I agree with that assessment since it very much is so Xamairn.Forms developers can see their Forms project running on a device. But I guess since it isn't part of the Forms code base that is a valid perspective as well. In the end the stamp of rejected on that thread probably sums up the situation. Another great feature never to see the light of day. Sad. :(

    Interpreting the state of that Xamarin.Forms Evolution thread as having a bearing on the situation does not seem strictly valid. The Xamarin.VisualStudio team is the group of engineers who would work on the feature, and they are not involved in reviewing Xamarin.Forms proposals. In contrast, the cross-reference from February is from a member of the Xamarin.VisualStudio team: https://forums.xamarin.com/discussion/comment/253816/#Comment_253816.

    ... is so Xamairn.Forms developers can see their Forms project running on a device

    It is perhaps also important to note that Xamarin.Forms depends on Xamarin.iOS, Xamarin.Android, and the Xamarin.VisualStudio extension, and there is a solid population of Xamarin users who develop using Xamarin.iOS directly.

    Thanks for the insight. Hopefully a 'bump' with a new thread might get some new attention. Maybe. Maybe not. Costs nothing to try.

    Cool... Another reason this feature should get finished.

    Anyone else seeing a reduction in performance in Xamarin.Forms RelativeView on Android with this release (regardless of xamarin forms version)?

    Yes there is definitely an issue with RelativeLayout on Xamarin.Android 7.3. A page with a RelativeLayout containing 8 BoxViews opens near instantly on 7.2 while taking around 3 seconds on 7.3.
