    Thx for the bug reports @BradChase.2654, @MarkFredrickson. "a bug to fix the speed" might be a first. :)

    @DavidOrtinau haha I didnt mean to be rude about it but I kept thinking there is no way a top of the line i7 with a gtx970 is slower than a 125$ android phone by a multitude up to 1000x. When I was able to have everything rendering exactly the same but in a blink of an eye I figured it had to be a bug right? haha. Developer logic?

    @DavidOrtinau do you know when the final version will be released?

    What are the roadblocks? We need more information.

    @DavidOrtinau Can you review this bug https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=52533 ? It's a regression. We have problems in ios (android OK) with listview and Grid. Thanks

    I just updated from XF 2.3.2 to 2.3.4.192 but now the header of my MasterDetailPage is to high on my iPad Pro.

    In the attached screenshot only the header of the master was to high, but when I tried to run the app a second time, the Detail had the same height.

    As you can see the content of the Master page starts at the correct position and is thus not completely visible.

    Yes, we're looking at that thx.

    @MichaelRumpler did you open a ticket on that? If not, please do and include some code if you can.

    @FokkeVermeulen @TobiasSchulz.9796 we have a list of regressions we are working on now and will ship a new -pre when we clear the list.

    Does anyone know if Xamarin.Forms plans to change the WebView to use WKWebView on iOS?

    https://developer.apple.com/reference/webkit/wkwebview

    Important Starting in iOS 8.0 and OS X 10.10, use WKWebView to add web content to your app. Do not use UIWebView or WebView.

  • Shane000Shane000 ✭✭✭ USMember ✭✭✭

    The reason I ask is because it fixes some issues with HTTPS that occur on UIWebView that don't occur with WKWebView and now that your app can get rejected if you use the PLIST attributes NSAllowsArbitraryLoads and NSAppTransportSecurity can't be used to avoid the issue anymore.

    @DavidOrtinau

    I now filed bug 52620 for the strange header behavior on the MasterDetailPage on iPads.
    It is a regression in 2.3.4, it still worked in 2.3.3.180.

    I used my own custom renderer for that. It's quite a hassle, but you can take XLabs HybridWebView renderer for a start. Maybe you can even use it without modifications.

    I know that it is complicated to add tasks when the release is almost done, but is it possible to take a look at this bug for the next release?

    It is breaking the layout on Android on every app running the last release.

    Thanks

    I ended up using the WebViewRenderer on github and writing one for WKWebView using a bunch of reflection. It was awful. I threw the suggestion in the subforum about what to improve. Seems like an oversight as it was really easy to swap them out, the hard part was writing awful reflection code.

    Edit: I didn't mean to post this in this thread.

    Specifically when changing from UIWebView to WKWebView you need to change the delegate handlers to map the new versions listed here:

    http://stackoverflow.com/a/26134994/548975

    Maybe I'll make a pull request when things settle down.

    The masterdetail has plenty of quirks, like in w10m if there is navigation buttons the layout gets all messed up when you click away from the master. this is on 2.3.4 too.

    If you look at the bottom of this page the layout changes when dismissing the master for the first time.. It hides some of my content, but luckly I seem to be the only person with one so I haven't been worried about it. But Its been like this for quite a while.

    Seeing an issue in iOS with Tabbed Page and more than 5 tabs.

    When you have more than 5 tabs in a Tabbed Page and you get the "More" tab. Clicking any tab option inside the "More" window will crash the app. All I get back for an exception is Object Reference Null Exception.

    FYI: Using the latest Google Play libraries from XF doesn't seem to work out of the box. After upgrading the libraries, I ran into a myriad of issues, including project references not being updated, having to enable MultiDex, then the Android SDK path not being valid anymore due to spaces (an issue open since 2015), and now some weird ProGuard issue about incompatible JDK versions (probably this one: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/39514518/xamarin-android-proguard-unsupported-class-version-number-52-0/39514706#39514706).

    If that could be made smoother rather than having every developer figure all this out on their own would be substantially less nightmare-ish ;)

    Using the latest GooglePlayServices libs with XF.Maps seems to be broken.

    Repro:

    • XF.Maps 2.3.4.192
    • PlayServices.Maps 42.1001.0

    At runtime, when trying to show a map, this crashes with the following exception, I think in the MapRenderer
    System.MissingMethodException: Method 'Android.Gms.Maps.MapView.get_Map' not found.

    2.3.4 pre2 breaks platform specifics in UWP.

    Previously I could set the toolbar placement in XAML, now it gets ignored and you get no toolbar buttons at all.

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    <NavigationPage xmlns="http://xamarin.com/schemas/2014/forms"
                 xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2009/xaml"
                 x:Class="Foobar.Views.MainNavigationPage"
                 xmlns:windows="clr-namespace:Xamarin.Forms.PlatformConfiguration.WindowsSpecific;assembly=Xamarin.Forms.Core"
                 windows:Page.ToolbarPlacement="Top"
                 Title="MainNavigationPage">
    </NavigationPage>

    I'd roll back to 2.3.3 but I've started to refactor my views to be compliant with the OnPlatform changes :neutral:

    Hi David, it falls into one of these two issues that Jimmy mentioned

    Is this a new issue/regression you're facing? I don't believe you've opened a ticket, but could you do so if you're still experiencing it, preferably against the nightly if you can test against it? Is it merely an image inside the custom cell, or is there anything else? Just trying to get a better idea of the context here.
