I wanted to let everyone in the group know that my company, Pariveda Solutions, has just finished building a mobile app for the Buffalo Bayou Partnership (http://www.buffalobayou.org) using Xamarin. We ran an 11 week internship over the summer where five college students from around the country with little experience doing C# or mobile development built an iOS and an Android app from scratch. The app is basically a mobile version of their printed trail guide, which can be downloaded from their website.
Here are some links to download the app:
We are hosting a launch party for the app this Thursday evening at Local Pour if anyone is interested: https://www.facebook.com/events/621491967868557/
Also, now that the interns are done, I am looking for developers who would be interested in continuing development on the app. We have a ton of new feature ideas, and BBP does not have a technology staff who can take on the task of adding new functionality. Their staff does have the ability to update the content in the app dynamically, though.
Anyways, please let me know if you are interested. It's a great way to give back to the community and learn a lot about a variety of excellent technology platforms like Xamarin, Google Maps Engine, NodeJS, RedHat Cloud, etc.
