Can't build IOS demo application

I try to investigate Xamarin for a new project and can't get a demo app (ios) to compile without error. The windows U app works, the mac is connected, Xcode installed, but an error is raised:

------ Build started: Project: CustomRenderer.iOS, Configuration: Debug iPhone ------
Generated session id: 410e119656645c082e8d7b52d889720e
Generated build app name: CustomRendereriOS
Connecting to Mac server 172.16.47.1...
C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Xamarin\iOS\Xamarin.iOS.Common.targets(516,3): error : Could not find 'Xamarin.iOS'
========== Build: 0 succeeded, 1 failed, 1 up-to-date, 0 skipped ==========

I also realized that there is no target version in the project properties:
Under iOS Application, Deployment target in Visual Studio project properties, there is nothing in the combobox and a message "can't parse ios version"

Is anything missing??

Thanx for any hint..

    First, I would re-run the installer and make sure everything got installed correctly. Also, do you have Xamarin Studio, Xcode and the iOS SDK installed on your Mac?
