Content Pipeline - MonoGame Pipeline Tool

I went through the Into to Content Pipleine and the Content Pipeline Walkthough.

A few questions.

1) Seems like adding .png's to Android and iOS work just the same as adding the .xnb output files. Is it recommended to convert them using the MonoGame Pipeline Tool anyway?

2) I really did not like the way the Walkthough created a project within my solution. I don't like having the .png's and the .xnb's in the solution folder with only the .xnb's being included in the project.

Is there any reason to do it this way? I would prefer to have these MonoGame projects outside of my source tree and only add the outputs (ie .xnb's).

    Thanks. As I am just learning and playing around with CocosSharp now, this is not too critical for me at the moment.

    However. I have not been able to figure out how to use MonoGame pipeline to build plists. Specifically, animation plists and their associated sprites.
