The Inspector team is happy to announce the availability of the 0.4.0 release that encompasses many bug fixes, much greater stability, and some nice new features!
Most of the improvements since the 0.3.2 release have been focused on stability and reliability of the core serialization and communication infrastructure, as well as our rendering pipeline that will open the door to some amazing features in coming releases.
In addition to infrastructure improvements and bug fixes, we have some notable new features as well:
Interactive rendering of enumerables - you can now interactively drive the enumeration of any
IEnumerable object, including recursive/cyclic enumerables. All evaluation is deferred, happening in slices as you interact. Enumerable support is infinitely scalable!
Improved object renderers - color and image types now have nicer renderers, and all objects show pretty-printed C# formatted type information.
Standalone Mode - the Mac version now allows you to tinker with the Inspector without having to launch Xamarin Studio or write an application at all. The Inspector is now installed to
/Applications/Xamarin Inspector.app. Once launched, choose
File → New Standalone Session to begin playing.
The next release will offer standalone support for Xamarin.iOS, Xamarin.Android, and WPF.
Visual Studio Community Edition - is now supported!
