Creating a custom renderer outside of the initial Forms PCL project?

I'd like to start creating some tools for Xamarin to put up on Nuget, etc. One thing I'd like to do is create an initial testing shared project, create some custom views/renderers, test them, and put them up.

I can create the initial PCL just fine of course - 'Welcome to Xamarin Forms'. Creating the custom View/Renderers is relatively straightforward, and I've followed Xamarin's help files on that. But what I'd like to do is have a distinct project for these custom views and renderers.

To sketch this out. Say my initial projects are:

TestProject
TestProject.iOS
TestProject.Droid

You know the drill. TestProject comes with App.cs, TestProject.iOS has AppDelegate, etc.

I'd like to additionally have...

NewView
NewView.iOS
NewView.Droid

...Where I can create my custom views, which I'll then import into TestProject for testing.

I get how to create new projects under a solution. It's getting NewView set up, appropriately linked to Xamarin's namespaces, etc, and then TestProject accessing NewView, where I'm being confused.

Any help would be appreciated.
