Problems to start SLsvcUtil.exe

Hi guys

We are trying to perform the step 3 on Creating a Xamarin.Android Application using this walkthrough:
https://developer.xamarin.com/guides/cross-platform/application_fundamentals/web_services/walkthrough_working_with_WCF/

But we found this error when we are trying to run the command line:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Silverlight\v5.0\Tools>SLsvcUtil.exe /noConfig http://localhost:8733/Design_Time_Addresses/wcfForcaVendasService/Service1/
Microsoft (R) Silverlight Service Model Proxy Generation Tool
[Microsoft (R) Silverlight SDK, Version 5.0.61118.0]
Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

Attempting to download metadata from 'http://localhost:8733/Design_Time_Addresses/wcfForcaVendasService/Service1/' using WS-Metadata Exchange or DISCO.
Error: An error occurred in the tool.

Error: Valor não pode ser nulo. (Value cannot be null)

Nome do parâmetro: config (Parameter's name: config)

Somebody can help us?
Many thanks
Daniel

Just run it without the /noConfig parameter. It will generate a .ClientConfig file but you can ignore it safely :)

    Yes, it worked fine!
Now just use the Service1.cs file in your project and ignore the ClientConfig, you don't need it.

All the /noConfig parameter should do is not generate the ClientConfig file.

I had this error and had to do the thing mentioned here which works. annoying you can't do it through the "Add Service References" like the walkthrough shows

I had the same problem here and when I dropped the /noConfig, I am still having a "path access denied" problem. Can anyone help?

    UPDATE
I solved this problem by altering the security privileges to the folder.

    Hi

I'm still having the same error with no solution. Tried all of those answers without succesful.

I'm using windows 10 and i want to generate proxy service with slsvcutil.exe and got the same error of DanielBugim.

    Any help, please?

Exactly same problem as CristheanJP. Trying to execute "SLsvcUtil http://localhost:9607/myservice.svc" with the service running and I get two errors: "An error occurred in the tool." and "Object reference not set to an instance on an object."
None of the solutions here (or any place else around the net that I've found) work.
Environment is Windows 10 (most current as of 4/28/2017) and Visual Studio 2017.

    Just found the solution.
It was the version of Silverlight. Even though I had v5.0 installed, I went to Microsoft and installed the latest version of Silverlight (also v5.0, but a more recent build). After installing the new version SLsvcUtil ran perfectly.

This didn't help me, I installed the latest Silverlight and also got VS2017 and the same error. What else could I do?
