VS2015 Stuck at "Starting Emulator" with XAP

I'm just getting started with Xamarin and VS. Right now I am trying to get a basic app from a PluralSight video running in the emulator. When I go to debug, I see "Starting Emulator: Nexus 4 (Lollipop)". The emulator will startup just fine, albeit rather slowly. From there nothing happens. In VS I can see the bottom status bar says Ready with a blue bar. There is an animated icon implying something is happening, but even after 30 minutes, no change. This pretty much hoses VS. I can't stop debugging, the stop button is greyed out still. I have to stop the emulator manually, then kill the devenv.exe process via Task Manager.

I'm using the latest Xamarin as of this morning, along with VS2015 Enterprise (not a tech preview or RC) on Windows 7. Any help?

If you are running on windows 7 I would recommend either using the genymotion emulators or xamarin android player for your emulator

Same problem here! And all my devices from XAP are listed as unsupported.

I am facing a similar issue where my emulator was once working and now it just hangs.
I am using Visual Studio 2015 with Android.
