How do I remove unused languages from the final APK file?

I've added some of the Android support libraries to my project and now I'm basically facing the same problem as described in this StackOverflow question:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/20280872/android-studio-exports-strings-from-support-library-to-apk

Since I can't use Gradle settings with Xamarin, I can't use the solution described in the StackOverflow answer.

Does anyone have an idea, how I can keep only specific localization in my final APK file?

    I've found a manual solution for this, see http://stackoverflow.com/a/34787251/488695

    @DennisDaume

    Thanks so much for the reply, I really appreciate it.

    I came across that post, but the idea of manually editing and resigning seems sooo prone to an error. At least I know this is what you found as well.

    I'll post again, if I come cross a better approach.

    All the best,
    Ant

    Does this reduce the final apk size downloaded from the Google Play Store or just the size or the uploaded APK to Google Dev?

    How much kb/mb can you save with that?

    Thanks

  • I am facing the same issue. Did anyone got the solution other than manual editing of apk?
