Annoying VS2010 debug issue

MikkelRostockMikkelRostock DKMember ✭✭

When debugging in VS2010 on the iPhone Simulator (and physical iOS devices) on the Mac remote host, there is an extremely annoying issue, resulting in a broken debug session (VS2010/Simulator hangs) and the debug session must be restarted in VS2010 (SHIFT + F5, F5).

Steps to reproduce issue - scenario #1:

  1. Add a breakpoint in code that will be executed.
  2. Start the debug session on the iPhone Simulator by pressing F5 in VS2010.
  3. When the breakpoint is hit in VS2010, delete the breakpoint and press F5 to continue debugging.
  4. The app is still responsive, and debug session seems to be as well.
  5. Add a new breakpoint and click anything in the app.
  6. The debug session is broken and hangs - debugging has to be restarted.

Steps to reproduce issue - scenario #2:

  1. Delete all breakpoints in VS2010.
  2. Start the debug session on the iPhone Simulator by pressing F5 in VS2010.
  3. When the breakpoint is hit in VS2010, delete the breakpoint and press F5 to continue debugging.
  4. The debug session is broken and hangs - debugging has to be restarted.

I don't know if this has already been reported, but it sure is a pain in the neck...!

...And another thing; Debug » Restart (CTRL + SHIFT + F5) doesn't work in VS2010...
