Xamarin iOS Binding Project Unified API 64 bit support

I am trying to 1) convert an iOS binding project that was using Classic API to the Unified API and/or 2) Create a new iOS Binding Project with the Unified API but in both cases, I am getting build errors even though the project does show that Xamarin.iOS is referenced:

Error: could not import "$(MSBuildExtensionsPath)\Xamarin\iOS\Xamarin.iOS.ObjCBinding.CSharp.targets"

Is iOS binding projects currently supported with the Unified API? Is this a known issue? Anyone have any success with getting binding projects to work with Unified API?

I am using Xamarin version 5.5.3 build 6 (stable channel), Xamarin.iOS version 8.4.0.16, Xcode 6.1.

Here's the content of the project file:
