How to compile/install Xamarin Studio on Linux?

    See if this thread helps.

    Xamarin Studio is a strict superset of MonoDevelop - we develop features directly upstream in the open-source MonoDevelop project, add Xamarin Studio branding and Xamarin addins for Xamarin.iOS, Xamarin.Android and Xamarin.Mac development, and publish installers for Mac and Windows.

    For Linux, you (or your distro) can build and package MonoDevelop (i.e the core of Xamarin Studio) from source.

    Thank you for answers. I will continue trying to compile on Ubuntu 12.10, or wait for a distribution supply MonoDevelop 4 by default.

    @JuanDelgado.1687 ,

    This thread is quite old and much has changed since 2013. I would recommend creating a new forum discussion or question. Thanks!
