Xamarin Forms Portable Creates one Project Instead of 3 on Xamarin Studio

In looking at the help documentation here:, I noticed it created three projects when creating the project type. But for Xamarin Studio, it created one. Is that expected? I assume that may be behavioral differences between VS and Xamarin Studio?

Also, Xamarin Forms Shared also creates just one, and it breaks when I try to edit the ContentView.

You should see a common project which is a Portable Class Library, plus an iOS and Android application project in Xamarin Studio on the Mac.

Which platform (Mac or Windows) are you using Xamarin Studio on? Which project is created? Can you provide screenshots and more details?

What versions of Xamarin Studio, Xamarin.iOS and Xamarin.Android are you using (see the About window).

Yeah the iOS and Android projects are not there or an existing solution on Mac / Xamarin Studio. Creating a new portable project from scratch worked, but when I add a Xamarin Forms project to an existing solution to an existing project (a project that existed before Forms came out), it only created the one. Screenshot is attached.

Adding the Xamarin.Forms NuGet to an existing project is not expected to add new projects to a solution.

Only created a new Xamarin.Forms solution from a template will create multiple projects for you.
