What is different between Xamarin 3 and Xamarin 5.2? I see everywhere says Xamarin 3 is new and when you download it About section says it is version 5.2, its confusing...
Xamarin is multiple products.
Xamarin for Android,
Xamarin for iOS,
Xamarin for Mac,
Xamarin Plug-ins for Microsoft Visual Studio
Each has it's own version numbering.
Have a look at http://developer.xamarin.com/releases/studio/xamarin.studio_5.3/ (specifically the menu on the left) you'll see what I mean.
Xamarin 3 is kind of an "umbrella" versioning scheme used for marketing purpose. It means version three of the Xamarin platform as a whole which includes different products (Xamarin.iOS, Xamarin.Android, Xamarin.Forms, Xamarin Studio, Xamarin for Visual Studio, etc.) each one with its own version number. As part of Xamarin 3, Nat and Miguel announced some new cool stuff like the iOS Designer and Xamarin.Forms.
"5.2" is the current stable version of the Xamarin Studio IDE.
