Bug ? CarouselView ScrollTo(..) in UWP?

ImproveMeImproveMe Member ✭✭✭

Hey, is the function ScrollTo in CarouselView in UWP working?
Working fine in Android, but on UWP its not navigating to the right View.

I created a fresh project with three Buttons to navigate through the CarouselView, but on UWP its only navigating one step more/less(View).

I found on a other post that you can upgrade to 4.5.xxx-pre1 but I did that with pre1 to pre4 still no success on UWP.

Last time I check Carouselview wasnt complete in UWP and i gave up using it. Syncfusion has better tools can be used instead of carouselview and they work find on uwp. please post your issue here so we can follow up as well.

Greetings, you mentioned Syncfusion, but if I use Synfusion I must pay/buy a license for that or?
Important it must be free under commercial use like MIT license.

If you apply for the community licence it's free (less than 4 devs and turnover under 1 million USD or something like that)

Pretty amazing they offer this to indie devs free.

Thank you for the reply but then I will fall out.

Yes, you'll need an enterprise licence then. Surprised your still coding when you own a multi-million dollar company :) I've had to write document to justify the control purchases for companies I was fulltime for and as a consult for my current client, your have to balance feature against desired functionality, cost involved in 'rolling your own and ongoing support hassles' vs paying for a vendor.

Have you tried all the open source alternatives?

No I'm a employee. Would be nice to have so much money.
I will try the open source alternative.

  • Its 'academic' now but I used Alex Rainman's CarouselView up until ... Xamarin 'home grown' CarouselView was released. Now - for my sins - here is the sad sorry tale of how my Xamarin CarouselView (UWP) implementation has progressed:

    Xamarin Forms
    4.6.0.867 CarouselView works
    4.6.0.967 CarouselView doesn't work
    4.6.0.1073 CarouselView doesn't work
    4.6.0.1141 CarouselView doesn't work
    4.6.0.1180 CarouselView doesn't work
    4.7.0.968 CarouselView doesn't work
    4.7.0.1080 CarouselView doesn't work
    4.7.0.1142 CarouselView doesn't work
    4.7.0.1179 CarouselView doesn't work
    4.7.0.1239 CarouselView doesn't work
    4.7.0.1260 CarouselView doesn't work
    4.7.0.1351 CarouselView doesn't work
    4.8.0.1269 CarouselView doesn't work
    4.8.0.1364 CarouselView doesn't work
    .
    .
The moral of the story here, is that once you rely on something totally, it will always let you down. Sod's Law applies in spades where Xamarin Forms is concerned
