Visual Studio 2019 doesn't see any android device (Visual Studio 2017 does)

Hi,

I don't understand why Visual Studio 2019 doesn't see any Android Device. The Start menu just stays like this and I get the standard "Please select a valid device before running the application." error when I run start (obviously).

When I run "adb -devices" from Visual Studio 2019 adb command prompt, it does list two devices (a physical one and the VS x86 emulator one). If I try the Android Device Manager from the Visual Studio 2019 menu it also works fine and displays all devices, and the button displays a Stop for devices that are started. When I do the same thing from within Visual Studio 2017 it does see the two devices and I can run start.

One thing to note is I also have Android Studio installed and originally it had its own JDK and ADK version but I changed the "Xamarin Android" configuration paths from Tools/Options and everything is green. Plus again, I did the same thing with Visual studio 2017 and it works fine.

I've completely repaired my Visual Studio 2019 setup but it still doesn't work. I have no idea what to do now? It seems it doesn't connect properly to the "thing" that enumerates device?

Thanks
Simon.

(I'm coming from flutter development with a horrible dev environment, so I was hoping for a better welcome from Xamarin  )

@smo Can you post either a recording of the screen or some screenshots to understand this in a better way?

    Hi,

Sure, here is a screenshot of Visual Studio 2019 (16.2.5, everything upgraded to the latest binary) with the most simple Xamarin Android app . As you can see, every tool I try sees 2 or 3 devices (1 physical, 2 virtual), except the Start drop down from inside Visual Studio 2019 where there's nothing. It works with my Visual Studio 2017 installation on the same machine.

I also test Visual Studio 2019 preview (16.3.0 preview 3) and it's the same
