How do I override events to make a Fire TV Remote act like a mouse?

When I click the center button of the Fire TV remote, it clicks whatever is selected. (I assume it's overriding the enter key).

How do I make the outside ring of the Fire TV remote send a pointer in the appropriate direction as if it were a mouse and mouse pointer.

if (keypressed == Keycode.DpadRight)
                {
                    handled = true;
                }

Does nothing. I assume it's overriding an arrow key, but my game has no tabs, so nothing happens. I need to be able to move the pointer over the various objects I need to click.

    Just got an email from Amazon Developer:

    Amazon does not have an API for the type of functionality that you are describing. The only natively supported way to have a mouse cursor appear onscreen is to connect a mouse to the Fire TV.
