How to dismiss progress dialog after the toast message show or after the system response

JunCainJunCain Member ✭✭✭

This code is running, when I clicked the smsBtn the progress dialog will show, but the problem is when I place the progress.Dismiss() after or before the toast message the progress dialog will not show. I want the progress dialog automatically close or dismiss after the toast message will pop up or after the system response..

Note: progress dialog is running, but this private ProgressDialog progress; ProgressDialog have a green underline and when I hover the warning say ProgressDialog is obsolete this class is obsolete in this android platform and if I used this Android.App.ProgressDialog.progress the system produce an error like this the name Android.App.ProgressDialog.progress does not exist in the current content.

    From the code you post, I couldn't reproduce the problem you said , but I find another problem, the progress can't show as expected just as follows.

    And after add the following code, the progress could display normally, and dismiss as excepted .

    The reason of this problem is that time is happening so fast that the UI(progress ) is not getting a chance to update the screen, so we can try adding in await Task.Delay (1000); to simulate more work happening within your Thread.

     mButton.Click += MButton_ClickAsync;

        private async void MButton_ClickAsync(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
        {
               progress.Show();
                // Simulate some work here in order for the progress spinner to update
                await Task.Delay(1000);

            if (TextUtils.IsEmpty(smsDate.Text) || TextUtils.IsEmpty(phoneNum.Text) || TextUtils.IsEmpty(smsCustomer.Text)
                          || TextUtils.IsEmpty(smsAddress.Text) || TextUtils.IsEmpty(smsCustNo.Text) || TextUtils.IsEmpty(smsOrderProd.Text)
                          || TextUtils.IsEmpty(smsProdQty.Text) || TextUtils.IsEmpty(smsUnit.Text) || TextUtils.IsEmpty(smsAgentName.Text))
            {
                progress.Dismiss();
                Toast.MakeText(this, "Please fill out all the fields", ToastLength.Short).Show();
                return;
            }
            else
            {
                progress.Dismiss();
            }
      }

    When we check this link, we will find

    This class was deprecated in API level 26.
    ProgressDialog is a modal dialog, which prevents the user from interacting with the app. Instead of using this class, you should use a progress indicator like ProgressBar, which can be embedded in your app's UI. Alternatively, you can use a notification to inform the user of the task's progress.

    So we can use ProgressBar instead.

    Besides,the code of Android.App.ProgressDialog.progress; is wrong,since the namespace of Android.App.ProgressDialog don't have the progress.
