I'm building a Xamarin.Mac app, and will use a MySQL db as my authentication method. I would like to know how I can use MySQL in my project. There is no reference for "MySQL" when adding a reference.
You need to find a MySQL ADO.NET connector, add it to your references and then call the API. If you are open source you can use http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/net/
If you dont want GPL, you can buy a commercial license from oracle or buy from
To get the assemblies for the above, you need to run the downloaded .exe on windows and find the dll and then copy it over to your project on Mac. The dll is cross platform, only the installer needs windows.
I downloaded mysql-connector-net-6 and it contain 4 files .dll which are: Mysql.Data.ll, Mysql.Data.Entity.EF5.dll, Mysql.Data.Entity.EF6.dll and Mysql.Web.dll. I don't know in which part of the project over MAC should i paste it.
How do I call the API ?
