Mac Mini late 2012 for Xamarin development

Hello,

Need a bit of guidance here.
I've been thinking about buying a custom Mac Mini with ssd and i7 (the custom ones, from 2012)

Apparently they're going to work with Mojave.

From your experience, were there any issues with these kind of modded mac mini's ? Should I better head to a 2014+ model ?

Thanks,

    Hi ExtremeSwat.

    I bought a late-2011Mac Mini on https://kijiji.ca/ (I'm in Canada, I bought it locally for $350 Cdn)

It has an i5, 8GB and an SSD.

It serves as a build machine just fine, even though I'm stuck at High Sierra OS (according to your link)

I wouldn't do that at the moment. They might announce new Mac minis this month. They current Mac Mini is extremely outdated.

I've been using one of those, with extra memory and an SSD but in 2018 it's already starting to be slow. For Xamarin I would suggest at least an i7(quad core) and 16GB of RAM.

Still about the Mac Mini, the 2014 version is worst if comparing to the 2012. Also you can only replace the hard drive I think which kinda sucks.
