How do I make an image the canvas on which the user will be drawing?

I am developing an application that will be freehand drawing on top of a photo taken by the user. I am using SkiaSharp to do this. Does anyone have any tips on the best way to do this? I am thinking the best way is to have the image be converted to a canvas and then draw on that element. Is this the best way? If so, how does this work? I am trying to do this but SKCanvas takes an SKBitmap type in its constructor, and the SKBitmap type takes an SKImageSource, which takes no parameter.
