Do the Forum Notifications work?

I was expecting to get an email / forum notification whenever someone replies to one of my posts or comments, but that seems not to be the case? Is my expectation wrong or is something broken?
It's not that I never get email notifications as I do, but mostly not, have to actively look back through posts to see if anyone else has contributed - is it me, or is it you? :-)

You can verify your notification settings in Profile --> Notification Preferences. I get notifications when people mention me or comment on my discussions. If I didnt start the thread though, I dont get a notification unless they mention me.

Hi @john, that was what was confusing me as all the notifications were switched on, most forums allow you to get comments on threads you're involved in so assumed one of those notifications did that!
The key it seems is bookmarks (which ui designer chose a grey star on a grey background!) which are in the top left, guess you have to manually flick that on to get notified
Ah, yes. Good point. I do remember another person posting that you can get notifications on threads like you want if you bookmark them. Thanks for reminding me!
