iOS Binding Project

Hi,
I am just trying to create my first iOS binding project using the steps in the Xamarin developer guides, binding object c walkthorugh.

And all seems to go well until it comes to creating the library itself. I add the makefile using the text in the walkthrough link above but the lines:
lib$(TARGET)-armv7.a:
$(XBUILD) -project $(PROJECT) -target $(TARGET) -sdk iphoneos -arch armv7 -configuration Release clean build

cause the build to fail when I type "make" into the terminal. The message I am getting is:
invalid iOS deployment version 'miphoneos-version-min=11.2', iOS 10 is the maximum deployment target for 32-bit targets.

Being new to binding projects I'm not sure if the issue is concerned with the SDK version, the makefile or settings in the XCode project. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to solve this?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Stephen.
