Stuck on error: "Could not load assembly 'System.Buffers' during startup registration"

Working on a Xamarin Forms project.

iOS and UWP works fine and so did Android a few days ago.

Now I get this error when I try and run and Debug:

Could not load assembly 'System.Buffers' during startup registration.
This might be due to an invalid debug installation.
A common cause is to 'adb install' the app directly instead of doing from the IDE.

I've tried to disable "Use Share Runtime" in Android Options". This gives the same error.

I'm running VS 15.5, but I tested on a Mac with VS for Mac (latest version) and got same error. The shared project is based on .NET Standard 2.0.

I'm stuck. Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you.

No one else having this issue?

  • I do. I just created a new Xamarin.Forms app using default settings and this is what I get:

I've just added NuGet package System.Buffers to Android project and same error results. Any suggestions?

I've recently had this issue on a new Xamarin Forms 3.1 app and @Thiyraash suggestion worked. I'm not sure why it needs to be added though, as I have a Xamarin Forms 2.5 app that works fine and does not have this installed.... ¯_(ツ)_/¯
