Xamarin.Forms Cross-Platform templates missing on Visual Studio 2015

Hi. I have fresh install of Visual Studio 2015 Professional and after click on File - New Project - Templates - Visual C# - Cross Platform I don't get any usual templates like Blank app or Cross Platform App (Xamarin.Forms or Native). I had installed all available items during Visual Studio installation and would like to target iPhone, Android and WF platform in a same project.

How to install missing templates?

I solved the issue by performing a thorough Xamarin uninstall, then I installed it again through Visual Studio installer. Details and the exact 12 steps which helped me are described on Xamarin developers page

After this I got all templates needed (iPhone, Android & Windows Phone). However, after recent update of Xamarin tools I noticed that Windows Phone project isn't added to the solution any more but replaced with Universal Windows Platform.

Are you sure you havent missed the Xamarin options in the installer which maybe under custom as per this post. What version of Windows are you running

I'm running Windows 10 and all items were checked during Visual Studio install.

Try running the installer again and with the custom option this time as shown in windows setup (Visual Studio and Xamarin) for Visual Studio 2015

I ran it with the custom option in the first place and selected all features during install. Xamarin is installed and I can run existing Xamarin.Forms apps on all available platforms, just the templates are missing.

You should be able to add a Windows Phone 8/8.1 project by selecting the Windows Phone template from the New Project options. In case you dont have it already there should be an option to install the missing tools hopefully
