use an existing sqlite database

I'm trying to use an exsiting sqlite database file with my application but I can't get it to work.
I have placed the database in the Assets folder with as build action AndroidAsset.

then I try to get the path like this:
var documentPath = System.Environment.GetFolderPath(System.Environment.SpecialFolder.Personal);
var dbName = Path.Combine(documentPath, "sqlitedb.db");
but when I try to do a File.Exists(dbName) it always returns false.

Can anyone help to get this working?
Thank you
