SqlConnection - Will SSL encryption ever be implemented?

Just wondering. Are we funneling false hopes to our users?
I'd really like to see this implemented. It is not an issue with .NET Core.
At the very least, I'd like to know if there is a technical reason preventing this from happening?

SqlConnection is part of the Mono BCLs that we ship with the Xamarin.Mac product. I talked to the runtime team and was told to expect it in the 15.5 release.
